Do I have to live in Pella to use your services?
Not at all! Whether you live in Pella, Oskaloosa, Knoxville, or the surrounding area, you are welcome to come. There are no restrictions on who can receive our services.
Where do I find you?
We are located at 703 Main St. in Pella. We’re right across the street from the Molengrat.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, we recommend that you schedule an appointment. You may stop in without an appointment, but please realize we may not be able to assist you immediately.
What do I need to know for my appointment?
Please bring your valid ID, driver’s license, or school ID to ensure your confidentiality. Friends and/or family are encouraged to come for your support.
I'm under 18. Do I need to have my parents' consent, or do they need to come with me to the appointment?
No, but we encourage you to talk with your parents regarding your sexual health issues.
Do I need to bring an insurance card?
Nope! All of our services are free and confidential, so you do not need insurance.
What if I can't keep my appointment?
We ask that you call us prior to your scheduled time; this allows us to see others if needed.
Is my partner allowed to come in to my appointment with me?
Yes, we encourage you to bring your significant other.
May I bring my child to an appointment?
We don’t recommend it for testing appointments or Heritage Builders appointments.
Is there anything special to do for an STD test?
We ask that you do not urinate 30 minutes prior to your appointment. Plan for 45 minutes for the first appointment and 30 minutes for the follow up.
How is the STD test done?
A urine test and blood draw is done at Pathways of Pella clinic that is then sent to the CDD (Centers for Disease Detection) for results.
How long does it take to get the STD test results?
Results will be ready in one week which you will receive at a follow up appointment.
How long does a Heritage Builders appointment usually run?
Plan on one hour for each appointment.
How often can I come for diapers?
Diapers are given on a limited basis, no more than once a month.
Do I see the same counselor at all my Heritage Builders appointments?
Yes, we do try to schedule you with the same counselor to maintain continuity.
How is the pregnancy test done, by urine or blood test?
We use a simple urine hCG physician-grade test. It’s highly accurate, and can detect hormones in the urine even before a period is missed. We get the results in 4 minutes.
